We are creatures of consciousness contained within a physical world; the forms of which reveal the inner, abstract realities. In my work I seek to explore the shared truths of interrelated forms within the natural world and how inner life, emotions, and consciousness reveal themselves through gesture -- and can be affected by the rhythms, harmonies and proportions of form. I believe that using the human form as an expressive platform to communicate ideas about the world elicits and cultivates an empathy for our shared condition.
Scott Krohne is a figurative sculptor living in Southern California. His work focuses on the human figure and the universal experiences of inner life. Although he specializes in bronze, he also enjoys exploring non-traditional mediums. He is a member of the National Sculpture Society and the recipient of numerous fine art awards and commissions. A privately funded bronze mascot sculpture commission for Redlands East Valley High School helped garner the school a Pepsi "Refresh Everything" Grant. Inspiration for Krohne's artwork is drawn from the power and naturalism of the late Hellenistic Masters, the emotional impact of Carpeaux, the clarity of Houdon, and the unblinking honesty of modern masters, such as Robert Graham and Francisco Zuniga, who carry out their vision unconstrained by traditional norms. He is currently a sculptor instructor at Kline Academy of Art in Los Angeles and has been invited as an Artist in Residence at the Buffalo Creek Art Center and Sculpture Park for the month of July 2025.
